How can I reset Learner Problem Attempts for Module Quiz and Exam Sections?

Instructor and Admin Staff – Information presented in this article is meant only for administration staff managing the course.

Resetting problem attempts is handled individually and cannot be reset as a group. See section below for actions pertaining to Reset Group of Questions From Content Library. Group resetting of content library problems can only be done per learner.

Some courses use a third-party Qualtrics survey as an assessment rather than using the built in platform problems. Please verify that the page includes this survey assessment by checking to see if the Powered by Qualtrics text is included within the footer of the assessment. These type of assessments can currently only be reset by the EducateWorkforce support team.

There’s a good chance that you are going to need to know how to reset student attempts on a module quiz or exam section problem. The platform allows for resetting individual learners or the entire class for a specific problem. Please review the section that pertains to your needs.

Overview

Content libraries are used to pull in problems from a bank of questions available. These are pulled in randomly, such that, every learner (including the administration staff) will have a different subset of all questions available.

The Module Quiz page is setup to pull 10+ questions from a content library. The Exam page is comprised of a combination of all Module Quiz content libraries.

For more information on content libraries, please visit this article.

The administration staff will not be able to view all problems served from the content library on a Module Quiz or Exam section page from their Staff View. They will instead need to view the problems using Specific Learner View to see what the learner selected for a problem or perform a problem reset.

The module quiz or exam section problems can have the following configuration and actions available:

  • The problem limits are set to 1 or more attempts per problem. Should a learner need to re-attempt a problem, these type of problems will require the course staff to reset attempts when the submission limit is reached.
  • Learners will never be allowed to Show Answer after a problem has been submitted since these problems are setup to evaluate knowledge attained from module lesson content. Clicking Save will keep the learner’s answer selected until they Submit for grading.
  • Issuing a Delete Learner’s State for a page that pulls problems from a content library like the Quiz and Exam sections will delete the learner answer choices selected and pull a new list of problems from the library bank. This is handled on a per learner reset and cannot be done for all learner’s in one action.

See section Reset Group of Questions From Content Library for details.
